A Theory of Change (TOC) helps you and your organization better understand how to make the changes you would like to see in your neighbourhood. It's the strategic planning portion that lead to the actions to achieve your goals.
According to the UK’s National Council for Voluntary Organisations, a Theory of Change (TOC) is “a description of why a particular way of working will be effective, showing how change happens in the short, medium and long term to achieve the intended impact.
It can be represented in a visual diagram, as a narrative, or both.” If you are in the process of bridging your strategy with the goals you want to achieve, a Theory of Change will help to visualize the chain of actions you need to take and map the way to success. In other words, a TOC is much like a road map: it shows how we believe we’ll achieve our goals.
