The Future of Jobs Report 2025
Economic Development Engagement Finance GovernmentSummary
This report by the World Economic Forum provides an interesting perspective on the rapid transformation of the global labour market between 2025 and 2030. It identifies technological change, including advances in AI, data, robotics, and cybersecurity, as the most significant driver reshaping the workforce. Rising living costs, climate-change action, demographic shifts, and geopolitical fragmentation are also influencing business remodelling and skills demand. As a result, the report expects frontline, care economy, technology-related, green economy, education roles to grow, while clerical and secretarial jobs decline. The report also expects nearly 39% of workers’ current skill sets to transform or become outdated, making upskilling and reskilling urgent priorities as skills gaps emerge as the leading barrier to business transformation. Some of the most sought-after skills include analytical thinking, AI, and big data, and creative thinking, resilience, and agility. To increase talent availability, employers are increasingly investing in workforce training, well-being, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to remain resilient and competitive in an evolving global economy.
