During the community consultation for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT in Toronto, Metrolinx signed an agreement committing to hiring locally, providing training opportunities through apprenticeships during the construction of the line, local procurement of goods and services, and providing advanced notice of jobs to the local community living across Eglinton. The companies making bids to construct the line had to include plans for local sourcing of services and goods along with providing apprenticeship training. Metrolinx has hired a Community Benefits Specialist to oversee the implementation of the plan.
