SEMI-PRIVATE COMMUNITY SPACE
In some cities, there is an ongoing struggle with community access to semi-private community spaces. Also known as "privately owned public space" or POPS, shopping malls are a great example of a balance between community space and commercial space when there's access to community facilities in the mall. Newer forms of POPS include community space within condos, a park, or benches in private courtyards. If implemented effectively, privately-owned public spaces can serve multiple purposes to meet the needs of the communities and businesses.
