SAFETY & SECURITY
The safety and security in a city can impact a city in a variety of ways. For individuals who live in an environment of increased crime, they face various psychological and physical distresses. The broken windows theory suggests that crime can result from the continued degradation of a community that has not been rehabilitated. Crime also diminishes a community's ability to improve because fewer businesses, and people, are willing to move into the area. Also, those already in the area, and can afford to, want to move out. As cities try to find new ways to make communities safe, the use of data is emerging as the next frontier in crime fighting.
