National governments and international organizations are in agreement that extreme income inequality is growing across the globe. Extreme inequality destabilizes nations, increases personal debt and leads to social unrest. It also reduces productivity, economic growth and innovation. Although there is little doubt that income inequality exists, there is a lot of debate about how to resolve it. There are many countries calling for increases in their minimum wage while others are asking for a reduction in executive pay. Some are exploring a guaranteed income and the latest suggestion focuses on whether taxation on investments can be improved.
