CYCLING & WALKABILITY
Cycling and walking are no longer done for recreation purposes. They are legitimate forms of transportation. Providing pedestrians and cyclists with the space and safety to commute removes cars from the road, which reduces congestion and improves air quality. In New York, measures have been taken to make streets safer which has been proven to have a neutral impact on cars and improve the local economy. In addition to saving money, choosing to use a bike or walking also has significant health benefits such as improving physical and mental health. In Denmark, cyclists have saved the government 40 million in healthcare costs.
